From June 2025, organisations in Ireland with over 50 employees must report on their Gender Pay Gap for the first time. This change is part of the next phase of the Gender Pay Gap Information Act 2021.
To support your business through this important compliance update, Alkimii offers an easy-to-use Gender Pay Gap report, available in the People Reports.
What Is the Gender Pay Gap?
The Gender Pay Gap is the difference in the average hourly wage of men and women across your workforce, expressed as a percentage of men’s earnings. It does not reflect unequal pay for equal work, which is already prohibited by law - it highlights broader pay imbalances due to role distribution, seniority levels, and progression opportunities.
According to the Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth, organisations must report:
- The mean and median hourly pay gap
- Bonus pay gaps
- Pay quartiles (i.e. proportion of men and women in each pay band)
- Gaps in temporary and part-time employee earnings
- Explanatory notes or contextual narratives (optional but recommended)
Who Needs to Report and When?
This reporting legislation was introduced gradually:
- 2022: Businesses with 250+ employees
- 2024: Businesses with 150+ employees
- June 2025: Now includes businesses with 50+ employees
Each organisation must select a ‘snapshot date’ in June. The Gender Pay Gap report is based on payroll data from the 12-month period preceding this date, and the data must be published within six months of the snapshot date on your website.

Including a narrative shows accountability and progress - and helps your organisation communicate your values to staff, stakeholders, and the public.
